Perrette Samouiloff .

Bonjour!

A cross-stitch artist who has long been loved in France.
With her experience as a children's textile designer, she continues to create heartwarming designs themed around children's daily lives and stories.
Her works, with their gentle use of colors and narrative quality reminiscent of nostalgic picture books, are popular with many people as magazines, books, kits, and original designs.

Throughout her more than 30 years of creative work, Perret has created a delicate, heartwarming and tender world woven together through textiles, sketches and watercolors.

Her patterns, sketches, and light watercolor paintings all share the same vision of wanting to capture the essence of things simply.

Her seemingly messy studio and the ordinary happenings of everyday life are all sources of inspiration for her creations. The designs born in her studio are developed from paper to fabric, and delivered to embroidery enthusiasts around the world as cross-stitch patterns.

Inspiration.

- Can you tell us about the source of your inspiration?

I come from a family of creative artists and writers.

As a child, I was immersed in children's books.

Particularly favorites were the famous Père Castor Collection and the Bayard Press Albums.

In particular, the French picture book magazine Pomme d'Api, which is filled with the story of David and Marion, was with me throughout my childhood.

I also enjoyed reading "Beccasine," "Martine," and "Caroline."

The period between the ages of 4 and 9 is probably the most nostalgic period of my life.

I am also very interested in nature, animals, and plants. I am sensitive to the changing seasons and often find inspiration in nature.

- There are also many works themed around songs and fairy tales, aren't there?

Most of the themes of songs and fairy tales are commissioned by companies, but my work may have a strong family flavor because my mother read us so many books.
